My statement on 1 March 1992 at SAF Retiree Forum was highlighted in the Strait Times (Sunday Times Newspaper of Singapore) that "Apple Shaped tummy" indicates accumulation of fats in the abdomen which is a prelude to diabetes and heart disease. This is now proven by the Journal of American Medical Association paper on 14/02/2017. This was reported in the Strait Times on 18/02/2017. I also said in 1992 that "Apple shaped tummy" is bad but "pear shaped bottom" in women is acceptable as the fats from the butt will not go into circulation compared to the fats from the gut. I also said that "the longer the belt-line, the shorter the life-line".
